Viztempo Audio Tabs

Privacy & support · Updated September 11, 2026

This browser extension gives supported audio tabs and web apps their own volume and mute controls. It connects to the Viztempo Windows app on the same PC.

What stays on your PC

The extension reads tab titles, tab identifiers, audio playback status and volume/mute settings. It detects the browser family and creates a random identifier for this extension installation to keep browser profiles separate. It sends these details to the installed Viztempo app through the browser’s native messaging connection. Tab titles can contain personal information.

The extension does not record audio, read passwords, inspect form entries, sell data, send analytics or upload these details to a server. It does not transmit page URLs to Viztempo. It checks URLs inside the browser to determine which ordinary HTTP/HTTPS pages can support audio controls. Private/incognito tabs are excluded.

Permissions and local storage

Access to website pages lets the extension adjust HTML audio/video and Web Audio volume, including players embedded in frames. Tab access supplies names and mute controls. Storage keeps the random installation identifier locally and remembers volume levels for the current browser session. Native messaging connects to Viztempo; scripting activates controls on existing pages; alarms reconnect the local connection.

In Firefox, the optional technical and interaction data permission enables sending browser identity and audio settings to the local Viztempo app. If you decline or revoke it, controls remain available in the extension popup and the desktop connection stays off. You can change this permission in Firefox’s add-on settings.

Your controls

Change website access using your browser’s extension settings. Restricted pages may offer mute only. Disabling or removing the extension restores its additional volume adjustment within approximately 12 seconds; reloading the page removes the remaining page hooks. A browser tab’s own mute state may remain set: use the browser’s Unmute tab command if needed.

The desktop bridge retains a recent tab snapshot in memory while connected. It removes the snapshot when the connection closes and hides stale controls after 16 seconds without an update. Removing the extension clears its stored settings according to the browser’s normal extension removal behavior. The extension has no account or remote database to delete.

Support and compatibility

Contact viztempo@pm.me. Please describe the browser, Viztempo version and affected site; do not send passwords or private browsing data.

Use Viztempo for Windows and the extension from the official browser store once published. Protected browser pages, some protected media and unusual audio implementations may support mute only. Installed web apps depend on their browser’s extension support. The browser’s Windows volume remains the shared master volume for its tabs.

This policy applies to the Audio Tabs extension and its local connection. It does not describe Viztempo’s separate weather or cloud-folder features.
